MOZAMBIQUE

Mozambique is the rising star in today’s safari industry. A country steeped in rich safari tradition, Mozambique is a country that suffered a prolonged civil war, which all but destroyed the safari industry. Since peace was restored nearly 20 years ago, both the safari industry and her wildlife have made a dramatic comeback. Many reputable safari operators have established hunting operations in this game rich paradise.

We enjoy a long-standing relationship with one of Mozambique’s premier safari operators. Their concession, Mahimba, is one of the finest big game hunting destinations in modern day Africa. As a result of both sound management and the remoteness of it’s location, Mahimba is an oasis for Cape buffalo, sable and an assortment of other plains game species. In addition, the tidal rivers that flow through Mahimba offer the opportunity to hunt the aquatic species, hippo and crocodile. A unique feature to this area is a total absence of these large predators (lion, leopard and hyena. This results in a game population that is more approachable. In addition, the lack of predation and strict harvest quotas allows a higher percentage of the game population to reach maturity and realize their full trophy potential.

There are 3 basic safari packages offered by our safari operator. The 7-day plains game package offers the opportunity to hunt 5 species including waterbuck, warthog, Chobe bushbuck, common reedbuck, bushpig. The 10-day buffalo/plains game package includes Cape buffalo, hippo or crocodile and the plains game previously listed. The 12-day buffalo/sable and plains game hunt includes the magnificent sable antelope along with all of the above-mentioned species.
